It may help to print the 'Real Weather' installation instructions prior to installing the weather folder WR 04-03 Haikou to Hong Kong Intl (old).

It is imperative for the success of this flight that you download and install kaitak.zip by Thomas Kwong from Avsim.com or flightsim.com. The file is for FS2000 but works well with both FS2002 and FS2004.
Installation is very easy for both flightsims. After opening kaitak.zip to a temporay location, copy the folder 'kaitak' and paste into the scenery folder of whichever flightsim you are using.
IGNORE THE INCLUDED EXTRA TEXTURE FOLDER. The contents of this folder are already included within the kaitak folder.

Now start the flightsim and go throught the scenery installation procedure.

For FS2002 that means starting the flightsim, and on the menu bar select World/Scenery Library... and in the window that opens click on 'Add area...'. Now navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\FS2002\Scenery and click on 'kaitak'. Click OK, and the kaitak entry will appear in the scenery list. Restart FS2002 and you will now have installed Thomas Kwong's excellent Hong Kong scenery. The installation of this senery installs the outer and middle markers, and the important 'IGS' on frequency 111.90MHz.

For FS2004, After starting FS2004, in the opening window click on 'Settings', and in the window that opens, in the 'Scenery' box, click on 'Scenery Library...' In the window that opens, click on 'Add Area' and navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery and click on 'kaitak'. Now click OK, and the kaitak entry will appear in the scenery list. Restart FS2004 and you will now have installed Thomas Kwong's excellent Hong Kong scenery. The installation of this senery installs the outer and middle markers, and the important 'IGS' on frequency 111.90MHz.

Beware though that this scenery is quite 'frame hungry' in both flight sims, so you may need to reduce your flightsim 'settings' a little to ease your stress levels on the approach!

This is quite a long but easy navigational flight, As long as strict attention is paid to the allowance for the strong winds by taking heed of Charlie's suggestion to obtain and master the use of the E6-B flight calculator you should have few problems.

Have a safe flight,

Norm Hancock
